Visiting the Martyrs of Uhud

Visiting the Martyrs of Uhud

http://www.falaah.co.uk/miscellaneous/202-visiting-the-martyrs-of-uhud

Sayyedina Abu Huraira (radiAllah 'anhu )narrates that when Prophet ( sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) was returning from  Uhud,he passed by Sayyedina Mus'ab bin Umair(radiAllahu 'anhu) who was killed [in the battle of Uhud]. The Prophet ( sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) stood near him ,made du'a and recited this verse of the Quran:
[Sura Al Ahzab, ayat 23;33:23]

[Among Muslims are men who have made true the covenant they had made with Allah, then there are some of them who have fulfilled their vows and some who are still waiting and they are not changed in the least.]

Then Prophet ( sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said:"I testify that on the day of judgment(Qiyamah) these people are martyrs near Allah. So you should visit them and perform ziyara (convey greetings).[I swear] By the One in whose  hand (power) lies my life, they will answer back to whoever greets them until the Last Day."

Imam Hakim,Mustadark ,2/297,No.3036, where he declares the hadith to be sahih on the conditions of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim. Imam Dhahabi ageed to it.
Imam Bayhaqi in Dalail an Nabuwwa,Imam Haythami in Majma'al-Zawa'id,Imam Ibn Rajab in Ahwal al Qubur, Imam Suyuti in al-Dur al-Manthur ,Ibn Kathir in  al-Bidaya wal Nihaya and many others have recorded this.

The young man who spoke from the grave

The Story of a young man who spoke from his grave

http://www.falaah.co.uk/miscellaneous/203-the-young-man-who-spoke-from-the-grave

Imam Ibn Askair al-Shafi`I [d.571A.H] narrates with the following chain of narration:
[Tarikh Damishq, Vol 45, p.450]
Abul Hasan Ali bin al Muslim from Abdul Aziz bin bin Ahmed from Abu Muhammed bin Abi Nasr from his father   abu Ali from Abdul Wahab al Maydani from Abu Nasr bin al Jabban who said that he heard from Abu Suleiman bin Zabar from Abul Hasan Umar bin Jam’a bin amr al kufi from Imarn  bin Musa al Tartusi from  Abu Saleh from Yahya bin Ayyub  al-Khazai that :
During the caliphate of Sayyedina Umar ibn Khattab ( radi Allah ‘anhu) there was a young man who  used to spend his time worshiping  and praying  in masjid . Umar ( radi Allah ‘anhu) was  very happy  with him. The man used to performisha (night) prayers and used to come back to his old father.  On this way, there was a house of a woman who liked this young man. The woman used to stand on his way. One day the woman ensnared the young man and he followed her. When they both reached at the door of the woman’s house, the young man started remembering Allah .The following verses came out from his tongue: [Al Araf, 201; 7:201]
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا إِذَا مَسَّهُمْ طَائِفٌ مِّنَ الشَّيْطَانِ تَذَكَّرُوا فَإِذَا هُم مُّبْصِرُونَ

The young man became unconscious and fell down. The woman called her maid; they both lifted the young man and dropped him at his door. The family members of the young man lifted him and took him inside the house. At late night the man became conscious. When his father inquired him about the incidence, the young man narrated the entire incidence. The father asked him:  O my son! Which verses ( ayat) did you recite?  The man repeated the verse and again became unconscious and fell down. The family members tried to revoke his consciousness, but he was dead. They washed his dead body and buried him.  In the morning when the news reached Umar  ( radi Allah ‘anhu)  he came  to his father for condolence and asked as to why was he not informed ?  The father told him that as it was night, they did not inform.  Umar (radi Allah ‘anhu) said: “Take me to his grave”.  Umar (radi Allah ‘anhu) and his companions reached at the grave of that young man.
Umar (radi Allah ‘amhu ) said:  “ O young man!  ولمن خاف مقام ربه جنتان (Whosoever feared to stand in front of his Lord then there are two gardens for him,55:46) The man replied  two times from his grave:  O Umar! My Lord has given me two gardens, inside garden.

This narration has been recorded by the following hadith masters:
  1. Hafiz Ibn Kathir [d.774 AH] ( Tafsir, under  Sura Al Araf, ayat 201)
  2. Imam Suyuti [d.911 AH] (Sharh al Sudur bi Sharh hal al Mawta wa al Qubur)
  3. Imam Ali ibn Husamud-Din al-Muttaqi al-Hindi [d.975 AH] ( Kanzul Ummal,4634)

Important Note for our Wahabbi brothers

The Founder of Wahabbi cult, Ibn Abdal Wahhab Najdi al Tamimi has also mentioned this complete narration [ as recorded by Imam Ibn Asakir]in his book “Ahkam Tamanni al Mawt”.
Please see the scans at this link
http://www.falaah.co.uk/refutation/wahabi/102-ahkam-tamanni-al-mawt-.html
As per Wahabbi belief all the Muslims in the Arabian Peninsula had become “mushrik” and were worshipping “graves”  .Ibn Abdal Wahab Najdi  eradicated this ‘shirk ‘by killing innocent Muslims.  It is quiet amusing to note that this man has quoted a narration in his book which promotes visiting graves of the pious Muslim!

4 Imam al-Bayhaqi [d.458 AH] has narrated this incidence with another chain of narration  and with a shorter description which is as follows:[ Shu'bul  Iman, no 736]
Abul Hussain  Ali bin Muhammed  bin Bushran  from Abu Ali Barz’ai from Abdullah bin Muhammed bin Ubaid  from Muhammed bin Yahya  bin Abi Hatim azdi from Abu Jafar Razi  from Abu Jafar al Sayah from Rabi bin Sabih  from Hasan [al Basari]
In the narration of Imam al-Bayhaqi it says: Umar (radi Allah ‘anhu) stood near the dead man and said “Two Gardens are for you, Two Gardens are for you” [End of al Bayhaqi’s narration]
5 Imam Suyuti  [ The version of al-Bayhaqi, al Dur al Manthur, Surah Al Rahman, ayat 46]
6 Imam  al –Alusi [The version of al-Bayhaqi ,Ruh al-Ma'ani, Surah Al Rahman ayat 46]
7 Imam Ali ibn Husamud-Din al-Muttaqi al-Hindi [The version of al-Bayhaqi , Kanzul Ummal,4635

Notes
  1. These are two different chains of narrations.
  2. The chain of Imam Bayhaqi is weak. But the other chain [as mentioned by Imam Ibn Asakir] is not objectionable. Even if both the chains were weak, they would strengthen each other.
  3. Hafiz Ibn Kathir has quoted Imam Ibn Asakir.

From the above narration we come to know that:

1. Before committing a sin, if we remember Allah and give up that sinful act, this brings us the good tidings of two gardens.
2. The pious Muslims are alive in their grave and are under special niyamah of Allah.
3. To visit the graves of pious Muslim is the Sunnah of Sayyedina Umar (radi Allah ‘anhu)
Note: We have already seen the sunnah of prophet ( sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) at this link
http://www.falaah.co.uk/miscellaneous/202-visiting-the-martyrs-of-uhud.html
4.  To visit the family members of a dead Muslim for condolence is the Sunnah of Umar (rd)
5.  Speaking to the dead person in grave and the dead person speaking from the grave, both are established by this narration.
6. Those hadith whichs says that the people of grave do not reply in a manner which you can hear, it means, in normal conditions it cannot be heard.

Imam Rabbani: Incidence of Istighatha

This part is a translation from the book Manaqib wa Maqamat-i-Ahmadiyya-i-Saidiyya, written by Muhammad Mazhar 'quddisa sirruh', a son of Ahmad Saeed Faruqi 'quddisa sirruh'
Note: Hazrat Shah Muhammad Mazhar Faruqi Mujaddidi,[died on 11 Muharram 1301 A.H] son of Shah Ahmad Saeed Naqshbandi Mujaddidi (r.a), buried near the grave of his father in Jannat-al-Baqi, Madinah Munawwara.

The Imam 'quddisa sirruh' had innumerous kashfs and karamats. We will write a few of them in order to become blessed:

1- One of the Imam's disciples wrote a letter to him, asking, "Did the Ashab al-kiram attain these ranks which you have been telling about? If so, did it occur at once or gradually?" The Imam said that a question of this sort could be answered only in a sohbat (by being together). The questioner visited him for his sohbat. The imam made tawajjuh to him (turned his attention towards him), bestowing on him all the nisbats he possessed, and said, "What did you see?" Upon this the person threw himself down to hadrat Imam's feet and said, "Now I know that the Ashab al-kiram 'alaihim-ur-ridwan' attained all the ranks of wilayat with only one sohbat with Rasulullah 'sall-allahu alaihi wa sallam'."

2- Mawlana Yusuf was ill. It seemed that he was to die soon. Imam-i-Rabbani visited him. Mawlana Yusuf requested tawajjuh and himmat. So the Imam 'quddisa sirruh' went in muraqaba (contemplation, profound meditation) and made him attain the grades of Fana and Baqa. Upon this, the latter, badly ill as he was, informed with the realized improvements taking place in his heart. As soon as his progress reached its zenith he attained Allahu ta'ala (passed away).

3- Some of the Imam's disciples expressed their wish to visit the Ghaws-ul-azam Abd-ul- qadir-i-Geilani 'quddisa sirruh'. The Imam remained silent and made tawajjuh towards the soul of the Ghaws-ul-azam 'radi-allahu anhuma'. Hadrat Abd-ul-qadir-i-Geilani's blessed soul appeared and he and some of his senior disciples honored the place with their presence. Those disciples of the Imam's who were present at the place visited the guests and received fayd from them.

4- Someone suffering from leprosy begged the Imam to pray for the restoration of his health. When the Imam made tawajjuh the person regained his health completely.

5- A hafidh whose duty was to recite Qur'an al-karim in the circle became badly ill. Everybody was hopeless. Imam-i-Rabbani said, "I have admitted him under my protection." The person recovered immediately.

6- He was on a safar (voyage, travel). The weather was unbearably hot and heavy. Exhausted, his companions and disciples begged him to intercede for mercy. The Imam 'quddisa sirruh' trusted himself to Allahu ta'ala. Presently, a cloud appeared and poured some light rain. It was no longer hot. Nor was there any dust left.

7- Some of his adherents found a Hindu idol temple empty at a remote place and broke the idols. They had hardly finished doing this when they found themselves surrounded by fully armed idolaters awaiting them with their swords drawn. The adherents sought asylum with the Imam, begging him for help. Imam-i-Rabbani 'qaddas-Allahu ta'ala sirrah-ul-'aziz' appeared at the place and said, "Don't worry! You will soon be receiving help from the unknown." A number of horsemen came into sight and protected the beloved born servants from the unbelievers.

8- One of his disciples met a lion in the country. There was no place to shelter. He sought asylum with the Imam and begged for help. The Imam appeared with a walking stick in his hand and hit the fierce animal hard. The lion ran away and the disciple was saved.

9- A pious person living in a far away country heard about the Imam's fame and came to the city of Serhend. Someone invited him to his house to spend the night there. When he said that he was there to receive fayd from the Imam and that he was very happy because he was going to be blessed with the honor of joining his disciples, the host began to vituperate hadrat Imam, using filthy language about him. Deeply saddened and embarrassed, the pious person committed himself to the Imam's soul and begged him through his heart: "I am here only with the intention of serving you for Allah's sake. This person wants to deprive me of this happiness." Imam-i-Rabbani appeared, exasperated and with his sword drawn, and cutting the denier to pieces he left the house. When the pious person was blessed with the Imam's presence the following morning and attempted to relate the previous night's event, the Imam preferred to conceal his karamat, saying, "Do not relate by day what happened at night."

10- One of the Imam's 'quddisa sirruh' deniers invited one of the Imam's disciples to his home. Putting something to eat in front of the guest, the host began to speak ill of Imam-i- Rabbani 'rahmatullahi ta'ala alaih'. The disciple was vexed and wished to go back to the Imam's place. This stirred the Ghayrat-i-ilahi, whereupon all the limbs of the denier's body broke and the body was torn to pieces. Terrified, the disciple left the house and made for the Imam's place. The Imam was standing at the door, as it was his blessed habit. Holding his disciple by the hand, he took him to the denier's house. They entered the house. The Imam supplicated to Allahu ta'ala for the resuscitation of the dead person. Allahu ta'ala accepted his supplication. When they stood up some time later, he said to his disciple, "Don't tell anyone about this event as long as I am alive."

11- One day ten of the Imam's disciples invited him to have (the dinner called) Iftar with them and all the ten invitations happened to be for the same evening. Accepting all the invitations, he had Iftar with all the ten families at the same time in the same evening.

12- He said one day, "The desire I had had to visit the Kaba al-muazzama became so overwhelming that it was all but impossible for me to endure it any longer. By the grace of Allahu ta'ala, this zeal and devotion generated so powerful an attraction that I found the Kaba al-muazzama by my side and was honored with tawaf (visiting the Kaba)."

Dalail al Khairat and Istighatha

Dalail al Khairat and Istighatha

Dalail al Khairat is a composition of different blessings on prophet [sal allahu alayhi wa sallam].
It was composed by Imam Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Jazuli al Hasani (Rh) (d. 869 AH /1465). He was a descendant of Prophet Muhammad, ( sal allahu alayhi wa sallam) via his grandson Hasan, son of Ali.( radi allaha tala anhum)
He memorized works of usul al-fiqh and Maliki law, such as Ibn al-Hajib’s Mukhtasr al-Far’i and Sahnun’s Al-Mudawwana al-Kubra. He also met the famous jurist and wali of Allah, SheikhAhmad Zarruq (Rh). After settling a tribal feud he left the area and spent the next forty years in Makkah, Medina and Jerusalem. After his long journey, he returned to Fez where he completed the prayer book Dalail al-Khairat.

One day Imam Jazuli went to perform his ablutions for the prescribed prayer from a nearby well but could not find any means to draw the water up. While thus perplexed, he was seen by a young girl who called out from high above, “You’re the one people praise so much, and you can’t even figure out how to get water out of a well?” So she came down and spat into the water, which welled up until it overflowed and spilled across the ground.  Imam Jazuli made his ablutions, and then turned to her and said, “I adjure you to tell me how you reached this rank.” She said, “By saying the Blessings upon him whom beasts lovingly followed as he walked through the wilds (Allah bless him and give him peace).”  Imam Jazuli thereupon vowed to compose the book of Blessings on the Prophet (Sal allahu alayhi wa sallam) which came to be known as his Dala’il al-Khayrat or “Waymarks of Benefits”.

This incidence has been mentioned by Imam Ahmed Al Sawi Al Maliki(Rh). (d 1241 AH/ 1825 CE )
Name of the bookSharah Sayyedi Ahmed Al Sawi ala Salawaat wa awraad al qutub sayyedi Ahmed al Dardir wa sharah asma al Husna.
This incidence has also been mentioned by Imam Yusuf al Nabhani  (Rh)( d 1350 AH/ 1932 ) in his book Jâmi` Karamaat al-Awliya , page 276-277.

The first chapter of  Dalail al Khairat contains about one hundred and two names of Prophet Moahmmed ( sal allahu alayhi wa aalihi wa ashabihi wa sallam).
Some of these names are

Ghawth (Succour), Sal allahu alayhi wa sallam
Ghiyath (Aid) Sal allahu alayhi wa sallam
Munji (Rescuer) Sal allahu alayhi wa sallam
Nasir (Helper). Sal allahu alayhi wa sallam
Shahid (the Witness) Sal allahu alayhi wa sallam
Shaheed (Witnesser) Sal allahu alayhi wa sallam
Muhaymin (the Guardian) Sal allahu alayhi wa sallam
Miftah ul-Jannah (the Key to the Garden ) Sal allahu alayhi wa sallam
Khashif ul-Kurb (the Remover of Worries) Sal allahu alayhi wa sallam
Rafi'ur-Rutab (the Raiser of Ranks) Sal allahu alayhi wa sallam
Haris Alaykum (Watchful over You) Sal allahu alayhi wa sallam
Afw ( Pardoning, the Overlooker of Sins) Sal allahu alayhi wa sallam
Musahih ul-Hasanat (the Verifier of Good Deeds) Sal allahu alayhi wa sallam

Imam Jazuli ( rh) has also written a dua ( supplication)  in the chapter of Dalail Al Khairat. This dua is read at the completion of Dalail al Khairat.

The dua contains these words:

Translation

O Mercy of Allah. I am afraid filled with fear
O Grace of Allah. I am ruined, so help me.
And I have no good acts with which to meet The All Knowing.
But great love for you and my faith.
Be my protection from the evil of life and from
The evil of death and from the burning of my mortal frame.
And fulfill my every need saving me from ruin.
And be my release from the fetters of disobedience.

It is clearly seen that Imam Jazuli (Rh) and all the muslims who recite Dalail al Khairat have no objection is using words like: OGrace of Allah. I am ruined, so help me.
It should also noted that this was not a poetry, but a dua (supplication) which Imam Jazuli (rh) wrote and it has been recited by sunni muslims since ages and no one called it ‘shirk”.
It should be clear that no Islamic law allows shirk in poetry and disallows shirk only in text!
If someone calls help from an idol whether in text or in poetry, it is always considered shirk.

The founder of the wahabism in India, Ismaeel Dehalvi writes:

To repeat the names, is one of those acts which Allah sahib has ordered only for for His respect. It it is done for someone else, then it is shirk”
[ Taqwiyatul Iman, page 44, Maktaba Mercantile, Delhi]

(“naam japna, unhee kamon mein say hai ki Allah sahib nay khaas apani taazeem kay liye tahraein hain aur kisi say yeh mamla karna shirk hai”)

He also writes in the same book:
The one whose name is Mohammed or Ali DOES NOT HAVE ANY AUTHORITY OVER ANYTHING

http://www.falaah.co.uk/refutation/wahabi/84-who-has-the-authority-.html

Please calling muslims as  mushriks and bidatis is a hall mark of Wahabi sect.

Ashraf Ali thanvi  al deobandi  wrote went one step ahead and wrote something which shows his knowledge in aqida issues.

He wrote that tying of  sehra ( flower in front face at the time of marriage) is shirk.

“To call someone from a distance and to think that he has received the message, to ask for fulfillment of desires from someone, to bow down before someone or to stand like a picture before someone, to put floral sehra over the head of a bridegroom, to keep the names of Ali Bakhsh, Husain Bakhsh, Abdul Nabi, etc., to say that if Allah and His Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) wills, this work will be done.”

[ Ashraf ali Thanvi Behishti Zevar, Part 1, pp/3 7, Under the description of the things of Polytheism and Infidelity.

In order to confuse arabic speaking sunni scholars, wahabis wrote al muhannad alal mufannad.

While answering question number seven in this book,  Khaleel Ambethvi writes:

“In our view it is very rewarding and mustahab to send durood (blessings) upon prophet, whether it is dalail al khairat or other comliled books of durood….”

A little further he writes:

“ My teacher Hazrat [ Rashid Ahmed] Gangohi and other scholars( mashaykh) used to read dalail al khairat. And Mawlana Hazrath Haji Imdadullah  Shah Muhajir Makki has written and said that disciples should regularly recite Dalail al Khairat. And Mawlana [ Rashid] Gangohi used to give permission to his students to recite Dalail Al Khairat”

It is seen that wahabi scholars like Rashid Gangohi did not have any problem in supplicating:

O Mercy of Allah. I am afraid filled with fear
O Grace of Allah. I am ruined, so help me.
And I have no good acts with which to meet The All Knowing.
But great love for you and my faith.
Be my protection from the evil of life and from
The evil of death and from the burning of my mortal frame.
And fulfill my every need saving me from ruin.
And be my release from the fetters of disobedience.
---
If Istighatha is  shirk, let these wahabis pass the fatwa of shirk upon Gangohi and company!.

For we sunni muslims will continue to recite dalail al khairat as long as we are alive!

Let us read  a paragraph( part) from dalail al Khairat and feel the love of prophet ( sal allahu alayhi wa sallam)

“ Ya Allah
And bless him in every year, in every month, in every week, in every day, in every night in every hour, in every sniff, in every breath, in every blink and in every glance, for ever and ever, for the duration of this world and the duration of the next world, and for longer then this, with a beginning that never ends and an end witch never finishes! Ya Allah, bless our master Muhammad (Sollallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam) as much as Your love for him! Ya Allah, bless our master Muhammad (Sollallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam) as befits his legitimate rank! Ya Allah, bless our master Muhammad (Sollallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam), with blessings, which serve as a sanctuary for us from all terrors, and oppression, which settle all our affairs.

Al-Tafhimat al-Ilahiyyah: About the Fabricated statement in the book of Shah Waliullah Dehlawi

“All who go to the land of Ajmer or to the grave of Salar Mas’ud or those that resemble them in order to request [to fulfil] a need, it is indeed a sin more grievous than murder and adultery. Its likeness is not but the likeness of those who worship the creation or like those who call on Al-Lat and Al-’Uzza. However, we do not [unequivocally] declare disbelief [upon them] due to the absence of a text from the Lawgiver in this specific matter.”
[Al-Tafhimat al-Ilahiyyah 2/45-Shah Waliullah Dehlawi]

View of Experts
Syed  Shaykh  Zaheeruddin ahmed (rh) ,Shaykh Zayd Faruqi  Naqshbandi,(rh),Mawlana Hakeem Sayed Barkati (rh)   and Ayyub Qadri were all expert on the life and work of Shah Waliullah muhaddith al dehlawi (rh).
They have all agreed that the above quote is not from Shah Waliullah (rh) but was later added in his book as a part of mass fabrication which was done in the books of Shah Sahib.

The Practices of Shah Waliullah Muhaddith Naqshbandi (Rh)

Shah Waliullah often used to visit the graves of awliya for maraqaba and Baraka. He used to visit grave of Shaykh Qutubuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki (Rd) regularly. Shah Sahib also visited the grave of Shaykh Ghaus Gwaliari (rh), Shah sahib performed maraqaba at the grave of Sayyedina Abu dhar ghaffari ( Radiallahu anhu) and the martyrs of  Badr.
At one instance Shah Sahab was not able to take a decision. While doing maraqaba at the grave of a pious wali of Allah in the town of Phulat, Shah Sahib got the answer for his question.
(Al qawl al jali, p, 232).

From these ( and many more like this) it is seen that Shah Sahab often used to visit the graves of awliya Allah to do maraqaba and get spiritual benefit. To say that Shah Waliullah  himself visited the graves of  awliya but  criticized others will  be attributing  a policy of dual nature towards the great scholar  Shah Waliullah muhaddith (Rh).

 From Fiqh
Murder and adultery is a sin which is established from nass.Anyone who does not consider murder and adultery to be a sin will become a Kafir. But if someone says that travelling to Ajmer to get his needs fulfilled is not a sin, then he will not become a kafir.
 Also the fabricated quote reads:
“then he has committed a greater sin than murder and adultery.”
Again, murder and adultery is a sin which is established fromnass. How come something which is not established from nassbe worse/grave from those things which are proved from nass?
From all these reason it can be seen that fabricator was some Wahabi who didn’t have any understanding of fiqh and knowledge about belief and practices of Shah Waliullah dehlawi (rh).
